10 Reasons Why Every Business Should Have Google Glass

Most people say Google Glass is in its infancy, there are barriers to obtaining it, and mostly it’s just for developers and die-hard fans.

Most people couldn’t be more wrong.

Right now, when few people have Google Glass, it is the perfect time for your business to get involved even at the most basic level. Here are the top 10 ways to use Glass for business, based on my experience as a Glass Explorer and director of Media MICE, a new media content and experiential marketing agency:

1) Wear it to be seen as an innovator. I am encouraging my staff to wear Glass because it instantly can change the direction of any conversation toward technology and innovation. That’s a good talk space to be in.

2) Use it to draw people to your road show, exhibition booth or just you as a conference delegate. It’s easy to get stopped dozens of times a day with delegates asking “What’s that on your face?” or “Is that…?” Yes it is.

3) Get customers to come out of the woodwork. The old way: Inbound calling. The new way: This on your face.

4) Take advantage of Google Glass’s flexible branding guidelines. Although Google may not have intended this to happen, you can use Google to now support your own company identity. (See more information here) Forbes has called tennis player Roger Federer’s endorsement portfolio “most impressive…in all of sports.” Take a hint from him, who has worn Glass while playing.

5) Give a speech using Glass as a teleprompter for the ultimate public speaking wow factor. Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr., the commander of the US Navy’s Pacific Fleet, recently did this.

6) One-up your foreign competition. Outside of the United States, few if any competitors have it yet. It’s just not available except for those who have U.S. ties.

7) Harness any phenomenon like Glass – at the cutting edge of consumer technology – to interact with the public and create excitement in marketing campaigns.

8) Be the smartest and coolest person in the room, since Glass can search Google and provide results in your field of view.

9) Make mild enemies into friends, and strong enemies vulnerable. Even people who hate Glass or you will engage you in conversation over it, giving you a chance to win them over in various ways. Or just find out more about the competition with a new Trojan Horse.

10) Reveal the future of vision. This very likely is it. Reveal the future to people, and suddenly your conversation just went to another level.
