Ghani announced that the federal government''s decision to pay a half-month bonus

to civil servants and a RM500 special payment to government pensioners will be

extended to the Sarawak civil service.

He said the state government had already approved the payments to about

20,000 civil servants and pensioners throughout Sarawak.

"The payments will also be made from Aug 9 so that civil servants

celebrating Hari Raya can make necessary preparations," he told reporters after

attending the breaking of fast with heads of federal departments and agencies,

organised by the Sarawak Federal Secretary''s Office here tonight.

Also present was Sarawak Federal Secretary Datuk Md Yahaya Basimin.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had announced the bonus on July

25.
