DUNGUN, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu government has declared 2013
as Visit Terengganu Year (VTY), aimed at increasing tourist arrivals in the
state
by 20 per cent from the previous VTY in 2008.
State Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Rahin
Mohd Said said the state received three million visitors during the VTY 2008
campaign.
"We will step up efforts to develop the state''s tourism industry and
enhance the current attractions," he said after the launching of the Mount
Berembun Green Challenge 2011, here, today.
Rahin said Hulu Terengganu''s Tasik Kenyir with its 10 small islands being
developed for tourism would be the main attraction for visitors to the state.
The state government, he said, was working at turning the untouched natural
splendour of Gunung Berembun and Chemerong Waterfalls, which is among the
highest in Southeast Asia, into places of interest as well.

year to encourage more international participation.
