30 PAS MEMBERS QUIT TO JOIN UMNO

PASIR PUTEH, July 13 (Bernama) -- Thirty PAS members from the Ketereh Tugal

branch, Cherang Ruku here quit the party to join Umno, reportedly frustrated

that the party had deviated from its original struggle.

Led by former branch Youth chief Ramli Ismail, 42, the group submitted

their membership forms to Pasir Puteh Umno division chief Zawawi Othman.

Speaking to reporters, Ramli said it would be more meaningful to support

Umno and Barisan Nasional in the 13th general election rather than PAS as it was

being manipulated by the DAP.

Another former PAS member, Ismail Deraman, 34, vowed to attract more of his

family members to join Umno before the next general election.
