ALOR GAJAH, May 15 (Bernama) -- Another 4,000 poor and hardcore poor people
in the country will join the Azam Tani (Agro Resolve) project this year.
As was the case last year, when the project started, each participant will
be given aid worth RM10,000, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk
Seri Noh Omar said today.
"Under the project, the participants will be engaged in agro-based
activities such as farming, fishing and planting and selling of crops. And they
will learn how to market their products," he told reporters after opening the
Alor Gajah Umno delegates meeting in Selandar here.
Noh said the participants will be chosen from the e-Kasih list prepared by
the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.
He said the 4,000 people involved in the project last year increased their
income on average from RM450 to RM2,000 per month.
