KANGAR, May 27 (Bernama) -- Heavy rain and thunderstorm ripped of the roofs
of about 40 houses in a number of housing estates in Bintong area at about 4pm
today.
The worst hit was Taman Datuk Jaafar where about 30 houses were damaged.
Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu who is also Bintong State
Assemblyman later visited the damaged houses and handed out assistance to the
victims.
Apart from Taman Datuk Jaafar, Taman Bukit Kayangan and Taman Bunga Padi
were also affected.
In Taman Bukit Kayangan, wedding reception was disrupted when canopies set
up for the reception was flown away during the thunderstorm.
However, no casualties were reported.
