PUTRAJAYA, June 14 (Bernama) -- Nigerians top the list of 580 Africans
detained since the enforcement process on illegal immigrants (post-registration)
under the 6P Programme from Oct 20 till yesterday said the Home Ministry.
Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohd Radzi said Nigerians
made up for 530 illegal immigrants detained, followed by Uganda (22), Botswana
(6), Sudan, Zimbabwe, Cameroon (4 each), Zambia (2) and one each from D’Ivory
Coast, Eritheria, Guinea and Algeria.
"Throughout the period, 4,773 operations were carried out by 25,802
enforcement officers from the Immigration Department and other agencies involved
while 100,109 people were screened," he said in a statement today.
Abdul Rahim said 15,384 illegal immigrants were detained while 364 employers
were also hauled up for various offences.
