KOTA KINABALU, July 24 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun

Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor have presented ''zam-zam'' water,

dates and robes to 943 mosques in 25 areas in Sabah for the month of Ramadan.

The contribution was presented to Umno division chiefs and representatives

to be distributed to the mosque committees by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa

Aman at Umno building here today.

In his speech, Musa said the contribution proved the prime minister''s

concern on the welfare and well-being of the people, including imams and members

of mosque committees.

"Indeed, it clearly demonstrates the government, particularly the prime

minister''s appreciation and recognition on the role, responsibility and

contribution made by mosque committees in strengthening Islam at the grassroots

level during Ramadan," he said.

Speaking to reporters later, Musa, who is also state Barisan Nasional (BN)

chairman, thanked Najib and Rosmah on behalf of the Sabah government and the

state BN.

Najib, in his meeting with imams and members of mosque committees in Serdang

recently, announced the distribution of cloth material for 14,254 imams and

138,746 members of mosque committees nationwide to make robes, as well as two

containers of ''zam-zam'' water for all mosques in the country.
