KUALA TERENGGANU, July 12 (Bernama) -- Ninety-three out of 139 child
nurseries in Terengganu have yet to register with the state Social Welfare
Department (JKM), its enforcement division assistant director Muhammad Zain
Mahmud said.
He said most of the nurseries and childcare centres in Terengganu had
remained unregistered because they were still waiting for technical approval
from Fire and Rescue Department, Health Department and Kuala Terengganu City
Council.
"Hence, we will organise a state-level nursery registration campaign this
Saturday, dubbed ''Jom Daftar TASKA'' in three zones, involving Besut, Setiu,
Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman, to ensure that
all nurseries and childcare centres in the state are registered with the JKM,"
he told Bernama here.
He also said the department had never received any report on child
fatalities at a registered or unregistered childcare centre or nursery in the
state so far.
"If there is a problem or a case involving a death of a child, the JKM will
revoke the Certificate of Registration issued to the nursery or childcare
centre," he added.
