SINGAPORE, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- The Singapore Immigration and Checkpoint
Authority (ICA) said today it expects traffic build-up between Friday and
Tuesday at the Woodlands and Tuas land checkpoints in view of the Chinese New
Year festive period and advised travellers to adhere to a travel advisory.
In a statement, it advised travellers to maintain lane discipline at all
times and car-pool or make use of public transportation.
Singaporeans who are issued with the BioPass or are registered with the
National Registration Office are encouraged to use the enhanced Immigration
Automated Clearance System (eIACS) lanes at the bus halls for immigration
clearance, it said.
The eIACS allows them to clear immigration through automated lanes within 12
seconds at no additional cost.
The ICA also reminded travellers to ensure that they carry their own
passports before presenting themselves for immigration clearance at the
checkpoints.
It said the ICA has detected a number of cases where travellers presented
the wrong passports for immigration clearance, thus affecting clearance
efficiency and causing inconvenience to other checkpoint users.
