Johan Cruyff is confident that Ibrahim Afellay is ready for Euro 2012 after making his first start for Barcelona since his return from injury in Saturday's 2-2 Liga draw against Betis.

Afellay sustained a serious knee ailment in September 2011, and only recently returned to match action.

The 26-year-old was included in Netherlands' provisional squad for this summer's European Championship and Cruyff feels that the former PSV star is in great shape ahead of the tournament.

"I saw Ibrahim Afellay in action at the weekend against Betis and I was pleasantly surprised. He looked in great shape and it was a real shame that he only played an hour due to the red card [to Dani Alves]," Cruyff wrote in his weekly column for De Telegraaf.

"He was replaced by a defender because Barcelona were reduced to 10 man, but he had already shown by then that he is more than ready for Euro 2012.

"The Dutch national team have a real luxury problem up front with Afellay's return. The coach has [Klaas-Jan] Huntelaar, [Robin] van Persie, [Dirk] Kuyt, [Arjen] Robben and Afellay to pick from."

Netherlands start their Euro 2012 campaign with the Group B match against Denmark on June 9.
