Afghan Taliban deny hand in Pak border attack, say operations restricted to Afghanistan

Peshawar, June 4(ANI): The Afghan Taliban have disowned the recent militant attacks in Pakistan's Upper Dir district, and declared that their operations were restricted to Afghanistan. "Not a single Afghan Talib took part in the Dir attacks. These are false and baseless allegations levelled against us. What happened in Dir is a local problem and not related to us," The News quoted Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid as telling the Afghan Islamic Press on the telephone from an undisclosed location. "We are facing a big enemy in Afghanistan and fighting its forces. We are active neither in Pakistan nor any other part of the world. Our operations are restricted to Afghanistan," the Taliban spokesman said. Earlier this week, a fight had erupted in Upper Dir after hundreds of insurgents crossed over from Afghanistan and attacked a security check post in Pakistan. The ongoing clash between Pakistani security forces and the militants has left at least 30 troops, four civilians and 45 insurgents dead. (ANI)
