AGONG AND PERMAISURI AGONG ATTEND OLYMPICS OPENING

LONDON, July 28 (Bernama) -- Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim

Mu''adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah attended the

official opening ceremony of the 30th Olympic Games, here Friday night.

The Malaysian Royal couple, sitting together with the heads of states taking

part in the biggest sporting event in the world, were seen waving to the 22

members of the Malaysian contingent as they marched past the main stage.

Malaysian chef-de-mission Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid and the bearer of the

Jalur Gemilang, diving athlete Pandelela Rinong anak Pamg, joined the procession

participated by 204 countries for the games which will continue until Aug 12.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong had earlier joined

members of the Malaysian contingent for the breaking of fast after which they

visited the Games Village where the Malaysian athletes were staying in.
