KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 (Bernama) - Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan
has urged Puteri Umno to step up efforts to registers members, especially youths
as voters.
He said the voter registration should be made as soon as possible in
anticipation of 13th general election.
"I hope we can do it in one or two weeks because the registration process
takes about three months before they are can vote," he told reporters after
launching ''Program Penerangan Perdana Puteri Umno'' at Putra World Trade Centre
(PWTC) here today.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor had said about
400,000 Umno members have not registered as voters.
Ahmad who is also Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister''s Department said
members who missed out on registration could help the party machinery during
general election.

Meanwhile, Puteri Umno chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said 86
percent of about 380,000 Puteri members have registered as voters.
"Puteri has many members in the 18-21 years age group. Our problem is to
locate members who have moved to the other states or abroad.
"We send letters reminding them of their eligibility to vote. This is done
on a continuous basis," she added.
