WASHINGTON (AP) — Apple Inc. spent $790,000 during the second quarter to lobby the federal government on issues such as patent reform, technology funding for education and electronic waste, according to a quarterly disclosure report.
This is up 41 percent from the $560,000 the maker of the iPhone and iPad spent in the previous quarter and more than double the $330,000 it spent in the second quarter of 2010.
Other issues Apple lobbied on included green technology, battery transportation, consumer privacy online and telecommunications- and trade-related topics.
Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple lobbied Congress, the departments of Education and Commerce, the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Trade Representative, according to the report it filed July 20 with the House clerk's office.
