Australians abroad: Fulham's Mark Schwarzer returns at Manchester City after two-month injury, Tim Cahill injured for Everton

Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer returned to action after almost two months out with a spinal injury, making some saves but couldn't prevent Fulham losing 3-0 at Manchester City in England's Premier League on Saturday.

The veteran keeper made some sharp saves in the first half to keep the Sky Blues at bay, but Sergio Aguero's 10th-minute penalty and Chris Baird own goal on the half hour mark undid his good work.

One of the Schwarzer's finest saves came at 2-0 down, when Philippe Senderos almost netted an own goal, only prevented the Aussie's superb reflexes.

Edin Dzeko scored on 72 minutes after Aguero's good work to round out the win, with Schwarzer little chance of preventing the third.

Elsewhere in the Premier League on Saturday, Tim Cahill was replaced at the interval as Everton drew 1-1 at Wigan after sustaining a foot injury.

The Australian worked hard in supporting Denis Stracqualursi in attack, but Everton boss David Moyes opted to take him off at the break for Phil Neville due to the injury concern with Marouane Fellaini pushing further into attack.
