AXA CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY WEEK IN 57 COUNTRIES 11 TO 15 JUNE

KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) -- For AXA’s second Corporate Responsibility

Week (CR Week), a global momentum will empower 163,000 employees to walk, run or

cycle in support of People Protection. Each kilometre will contribute 1 € to an

AXA Hearts in Action risk education project that each AXA entity can choose to

do with a local association.

The highlight of the CR Week was on Tuesday, June 12, when AXA Global Challenge

was organized for all AXA employees around the world to encourage all employees

to walk, run or bike to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and to maintain a

healthy lifestyle.

The global target is to walk, run or cycle a combined 40,000km (the

circumference of the earth). If AXA reaches the global target, AXA Group will

award CARE organization with €10,000.

In Asia over 3,000 employees would be participating in the AXA Global Challenge.

In Malaysia, 500 employees from both AXA AFFIN Life and AXA Affin General

Insurance have pledged to walk a minimum of five (5) kilometers. A total of

2,500 kilometers would be contributed to be part of the global target. In

addition, AXA AFFIN Life Insurance would match every Euro contributed by AXA

Group.

In 2011, both companies have embarked on various projects to promote risk

education to the public. AXA AFFIN LIFE Insurance has initiated the AXA AFFIN MY

Child Safety Programme since 2010 which focuses on crime prevention amongst

school children. The programme has reached out to more than 10,000 children and

continues to do so this year. On the other hand, AXA Affin General Insurance

conducted Financial Literacy program to over 90 children from Yayasan Sunbeams,

Rumah Titian Kaseh and Tara Bhavan Children’s Home, where they were taught the

value of money as well as developing good spending habits.

“We are truly proud to be part of this valuable cause. With our busy schedule in

meeting everyday work demands, we tend to take our health for granted and may

neglect it. What better way to bring everyone together to remind them the

importance of health and at the same time contributes to the less fortunate.

Apart from the AXA Global Challenge, we are also conducting activities such as

Blood Donation Drive, Health Talk and Charity Bazaar. These activities are in

line with the CR flagship theme of ‘Risk Research and Education’. Organized in

support of the National Blood Bank, the Blood Donation Drive, held on 14 – 16

June is open to all employees of AXA, as well as members of the public” said

Jahanath Muthusamy, Chief Executive Officer of AXA Affin General Insurance and

Loke Kah Meng, Chief Executive Officer of AXA AFFIN LIFE Insurance.

Alex Kimura, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer for AXA Asia says “I am very

pleased with the engagement of all employees across AXA Asia. Over 3,000

employees signed up for the AXA Challenge to join their colleagues around the

world to raise funds for a worthy cause. Corporate Responsibility is integral to

our strategy in Asia as it is a key driver of employee engagement and trust,

which furthers our ambition in becoming the preferred company for employees and

winning the trust of customers, as CR is an increasingly significant driver of

brand trust.”

About AXA’s Corporate Responsibility strategy

AXA's strategy is to place Corporate Responsibility both at the heart of its

business as well as its day to day interactions with its stakeholders. It is

through adopting responsible behaviour that the Group is able to most

effectively participate in social, environmental and economic progress. The

Group’s corporate responsibility policy flagship is on risk research and

education, and this commitment includes three key initiatives:

- Volunteer work, carried out through the AXA Hearts in Action international

solidarity organization for 20 years. In 2010, over 23,000 employees volunteered

in over 6,000 charity projects around the world.

- Scientific philanthropy, through the AXA Research Fund, which is endowed with

a five-year budget of €100 million.

- Risk prevention and education, in particular through the partnership with

CARE, an international humanitarian NGO.
