Babel & Braafheid allowed to leave Hoffenheim

Forward Ryan Babel and left-back Edson Braafheid have both been told by Hoffenheim that they can leave the club during the close season.

The Dutch duo, who both joined Hoffe in 2011, have struggled for form in the Bundesliga, and boss Markus Babbel has now confirmed that they are both available for transfer.

"I told them that we [Hoffenheim] are ready to talk if they have other options," the 39-year-old told German newspaper Bild. "So far though, I have heard nothing."

The former Bayern Munich defender then fired a thinly-veiled parting shot at Babel, adding: "I do not need to train world champions, but players who can show on the pitch what they can do."

Despite an indifferent start to 2011-12 under Holger Stanislawski, Hoffenheim eventually finished 11th in the Bundesliga under Babbel, with the pair contributing just five goals between them.
