Bayern Munich have decided to end their pursuit of Hamburg goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny for financial reasons, Bild reports.

The Bavarians are keen to sign a new shot stopper in the summer transfer window because of the retirement of current back-up keeper Hans-Jorg Butt, and they supposedly saw the 32-year-old Drobny as the perfect candidate.

However, they have now opted against signing Drobny due to HSV's excessive asking price for the goalkeeper.

Hamburg reportedly demand a €3 million transfer fee for Drobny, prompting Bayern to turn their attention elsewhere.

FCB could now move for Bayer Leverkusen's Fabian Giefer instead as they see the 22-year-old as a cheaper alternative. Giefer has a contract with Leverkusen until the summer of 2013, and could be available for less than €1m.
