Few people would have predicted that Team GB and Uruguay would come into this match needing a positive result to guarantee progression to the knockout stages of the 2012 Olympic Games.
Yet given that both teams have dropped points against Senegal, there is considerable extra pressure hanging over the respective coaches to secure the result they need and ensure a place in the quarter-final.
Paddy Power price a victory for Stuart Pearce's men at 6/4 (2.40), while a win for the South Americans is offered at 17/10 (2.70). Given that Uruguay possess world-class talents in the form of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani, that looks like a potentially generous price.
However, with the Uruguayans struggling in the 2-0 defeat to Senegal last time out, their veneer of excellence has been somewhat smudged, and punters may not feel confident enough to invest in them.
A draw, priced at 9/4 (3.25) would still see Great Britain progress and potentially Uruguay too, depending on results elsewhere, but both sides will want to win the group and the best chance of doing so is with a victory.
More appealing then, is the price of evens (2.00) for over 2.5 goals to be scored, a bet which looks like a nailed-on selection given some of the attacking talents on display.
This bet paid out in Team GB's last match and in Uruguay's first game, and with both teams needing a victory, while failing to keep a clean sheet yet in the competition, an open game with goals is expected.
For some higher odds, a small value bet on Draw/Uruguay at 11/2 (6.50) may be unpatriotic but could yield some healthy profits.
Team GB have conceded in the second half of both their matches so far and should the game reach half-time as a stalemate, the South Americans will undoubtedly go all out for the victory.
