BMW i3 UK prices revealed
BMW has revealed the official pricing for both variants of the its i3 over in the UK despite the fact the car will only be officially launched on the 29th of July.
The soon to be launched BMW i3 is one of the company’s first electrically powered cars to be sold to the public. It will make its debut on the 29th of July where full details regarding the powertrain, dimensions and other technical data will finally be revealed.
Though the car hasn’t officially been launched, BMW has already revealed pricing for the little electric i3. Deliveries to the UK will begin in November with a leasing price starting from £369 a month.
BMW is giving you the option to either lease the car from them or buy it outright. If you choose to go down the renting path, you can sign up for a 36 month contract. With that you will have to fork out £2,995 up front then make monthly payments of £369 for a contract mileage of 38624km.
But if you opt to fully own the car, you can do so from £25,680 OTR for the all-electric variant of the i3. The range extender variant utilizes a 650cc two-cylinder petrol engine to generate electricity and extend the range of the electric car to 290km on a single tank of fuel. BMW is yet to release the price of the range extender version of the i3, which will probably be the more sought after i3.
BMW’s i3 can be charged with three different ways. The first method is to use AC Fast Charging, which uses a 7.4kW charger to charge the i3 from zero to 80 per cent in three hours. You can also charge the car with a conventional household socket but it will take eight to 10 hours to accomplish the same feat. The third method is to use DC Fast Charging, which allows the i3 to be charged to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes to an hour. This method uses a 50kW connection and will be considerably useful especially when charging at public locations.
However this is what the manufacturer claims, real life figures may differ but we will know for certain once the BMW i3 actually makes it onto showroom floors.
