KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Group Malaysia yesterday unveiled the BMW R 1200 GS, the latest edition to its motorcycle line-up under the BMW Motorrad brand.
The new BMW R 1200 GS is said to have better handling with increased performance and touring stability.
The latest model has full-LED main headlight, a redesigned two-cylinder boxer engine with a 6-speed gearbox and five different riding models setting along with four ASC settings and engine characteristic variety.
The new model from BMW Motorrad is also furnished with Dynamic ESA, a semi-active suspension that monitors vertical movement of the front and rear wheel control with a spring travel sensor in each position.
The German automobile manufacturer said the BMW R 1200 GS is also equipped with an electronically controlled exhaust gas system, which controls the exhaust flap coupled with an earthy boxer sound.
The exhaust system is also designed to meet current and future exhaust emissions standards, which allows the all-new BMW R 1200 GS emissions to be regulated by an oxygen sensor controlled catalytic converter.
“In the first quarter of 2013, BMW Motorrad Malaysia had already delivered 148 motorcycles, a remarkable growth of 17% compared with the previous year when we delivered 126 motorcycles.

The new BMW R 1200 GS will be available nationwide at authorised BMW Motorrad dealerships starting on June 13.
