Penang Barisan Nasional today announced that there would be no restriction on anyone wishing to attend its Chinese New Year open house on Feb 11.
State BN Youth chief Oh Tong Keong ( right ) said that the colour of attire will not be a consideration in allowing entry for participants to the event which will be held at Han Chiang College.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has encouraged all Penangites to join in the celebration - which will feature famous Korean pop idol Psy - but urged those attending to wear yellow for Bersih, green for environment and red for change.
When asked if the organisers would allow DAP election mascot 'Ubah' hornbill to join the event if it showed up that day, Oh said "we cannot stop anyone".
"We have to respect the people's wishes," he told reporters at a press conference today.
The BN is expecting 80,000 people and has prepared 1,000 tables, including 20 for VIPs.
Keeping close to chest
Prime Minister Najib Razak will be the special guest at the event which starts at 9.30am, ending around 1pm.
Oh, who is state Gerakan Youth chief, said that Lim and all state assemblymen are invited, but it is still uncertain if they would accept it.
Psy ( right ) or Park Jae- Sang's billion hit show "Oppa Gangnam" style is slated for about 11am.
Oh said Psy - who will perform in Penang for the first time - has confirmed coming to the state.
However, Oh remains tight-lipped about the identity of Pay's event manager, replying "I don't know" to most questions surrounding the performer.
He also refused to divulge the cost of bringing Pay over, insisting "the BN is not paying a single cent for this".
Journalists were interested in Psy's date and time of arrival, and at which hotel he would be putting up in but their queries were unanswered.
"We have a site visit to check on the event's preparations where the event manager would be around. You can ask him then," he said.
Meanwhile, other performances, planned for this Sunday include performances by Asian Wave 2012 champion Sheila Amah, 1Malaysia traditional dances, Change, dragon and phoenix dance, and a special appearance by the 'God of Prosperity'.
It is still uncertain if Namib would be giving a speech or hold a press conference on that day.
Gerakan president and federal minister Koh Tsu Koon will be accompanying Namib but Oh is uncertain if MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek.
