KUALA NERANG, May 6 (Bernama) -- A nine-year-old boy died after he was run
over by a tractor in Kampung Palas, here, yesterday.
Muhammad Fariz Najmi Norizan, a pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kubang Palas,
here, was believed to have fallen off the tractor driven by his uncle Habibullah
Halim, in his 30s, who was ploughing padi fields near their home, at 10am.
His grandfather Yusof Awang, 59, said Najmi, the third of four siblings, was
believed to have fallen when the tractor was negotiating a slope and was run
over.
"Habibullah became aware Najmi was not sitting beside him a short while
after ploughing the padi field.
"He glanced back and saw Najmi lying in the padi field covered in mud and
blood," he told reporters when met at his house in Kampung Palas today.
Meanwhile, Padang Terap police chief DSP Ku Yaacob Ku Hamad, when contacted,
confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
