KUALA LUMPUR: A boy, believed to be a victim of severe abuse, died shortly after two women dropped him off outside the emergency unit of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre on Saturday.
City CID Chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the autopsy result showed the boy, believed to be around five to six--years--old, died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
Police are now tracking down the two women who brought the boy to the hospital at about 8.15am.
"We have no clue on the victim's identity. The only lead police have so far is he was dropped off in a Proton Iswara Aeroback," said Ku.
Ku said the car had stopped in front of the emergency unit and the women carried the boy out of the vehicle, claiming he was ill.
As a nurse was about to get a wheelchair, the car suddenly sped off, leaving the unconscious boy on the ground.
"The nurse didn't have time to take down the car registration number," he said.
Police believe the boy could have been abused based on the injuries sustained.
"I urge those with information on the boy's parents or relatives to come forward and assist in police investigations," he added.
