BUDGET 2012 MAY SEE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN CORPORATE TAX, SAYS IDRIS JALA

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- Budget 2012, to be tabled in parliament on

Oct 7, may see significant changes in corporate tax, says Minister in the Prime

Minister''s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala.

"I don''t want to steal the thunder from the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib

Tun Razak), but we may see some initiatives related to corporate taxation to be

announced on budget day," said Idris, who is also Performance Management and

Delivery Unit (Pemandu) chief executive officer.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Finance Minister, will

table the budget.

Companies are paying 25 per cent corporate tax currently.

The budget may also contain a review of pioneer status incentives and various

tax deductions, he told reporters at the ETP update seven today.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin unveiled six strategic reform

initiatives at the event.
