Bursa Malaysia rancang tarik lebih ramai Gen Y melalui ‘Fantasy football’

Share prices on Bursa Malaysia stood higher at the end of the morning session today on continued buying interest in heavyweights and penny stocks.

At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) increased 7.95 points or 0.46 per cent to 1,728.32, after fluctuating between 1,724.07 and 1,729.86 throughout the session.

Asian markets remained higher up to mid-day trading today, influencing the movement of the local bourse.

Regionally, Japan's Nikkei 225 advanced 2.87 per cent at 13,748.26, Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.53 per cent to 22,012.54, and Singapore's Straits Times Index gained 0.31 per cent to 3,098.87.

On Bursa Malaysia, the Finance Index advanced 107.02 points to 16,308.98, the Industrial Index was up 0.74 of a point to 2,916.45, and the Plantation Index rose 21.81 points to 8,113.42.

The FBM Emas Index jumped 49.17 points to 12,015.25, the FBMT100 was 47.66 points higher at 11,754.48, the FBM ACE Index appreciated 43.47 points to 5,270.99 and the FBM 70 Index increased 28.74 points to 13,652.44.

Advancers led decliners 411 to 213, with 291 counters unchanged, 670 untraded and 18 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 927.361 million shares worth RM945.060 million.

Among actives, MAS and The Media Shoppe edged up half-a-sen each to 33 sen and 9.5 sen, while Flonic Hi-Tec and Tiger Synergy were flat at 16.5 sen and 23 sen respectively.

AirAsia fell seven sen to RM2.67.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank surged 19 sen to RM10.06, YTL Corp added three sen to RM1.60, while Axiata and CIMB were flat at RM6.58 and RM7.56 respectively.

UEM Sunrise fell four sen to RM2.60 and Digi slid one sen to RM4.64. – Bernama, August 23, 2013.
