Cavani: If Napoli do not release me for the Olympics I will kick up a fuss and go there anyway

Edinson Cavani has told Napoli that he has no intention of missing this summer's Olympics, warning the club that he will kick up a fuss if they try to prevent him from travelling to London.

The Uruguay international, who has been linked with a move away from the San Paolo, is determined to represent his country in the Games.

While the Partenopei are unlikely to be open to the idea of releasing their star forward for a significant portion of pre-season, Cavani has told his Italian employers that they can pretty much like it, or lump it.

"Beforehand, I will go to Italy and kick up a fuss, then I will go to the Olympics anyway," Cavani told Uruguayan programme 'A Fondo'.

"I have not yet spoken with the club about my future. I have spoken instead of the Olympics and I stated clearly that my priority is to be part of the national team.

"I will do everything to be in the squad that will participate in the Olympics in London. Provided that coach [Oscar] Tabarez selects me, of course."

Cavani, who netted 23 times in Serie A this season, is currently preparing for Napoli's Coppa Italia final showdown with league champions Juventus in Rome on Sunday.
