KOTA KINABALU, May 29 (Bernama) -- The Community-Based Rehabilitation
programme (CBR), which has been introduced in Sabah, has brought positive
results in enhancing the capability level and skills of the participating
persons with disabilities.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin said such a
rehabilitation concept was able to help the participants to improve their level
of learning, as well as to take care of themselves.
"When they are in the programme, they learn to mix with friends, learn how
to interact and about self-care," he told reporters after visiting the Putatan
CBR at Kampung Ketiau here today.
During the visit, Yahya, who is also Sabah Agriculture and Food-Industry
Minister, contributed RM2,000 to Putatan CBR, as well as a learning set for
autistic children and a wheel chair to 19-year-old Hanzalah Huzaifah, who is an
autistic.
A total of 44 persons with disabilities are registered with the Putatan CBR.
