BACHOK, July 17 (Bernama) -- Local councils in opposition ruled states must
be more cooperative and sensitive by approving Certificate of Fitness for
Occupation (CF) for houses build by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) for the
poor.
Deputy Finance Minister Senator Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin said delay in
approving the CF for such houses would only add on to the burden of the less
fortunate.
"We view the delay in approval of CF by local councils as a serious matter,"
he told reporters after launching Koperasi Tani Bachok Berhad''s poultry farming
project at Kampung Merabang here today.
He said 1,000 units of houses worth RM100 million that were initially
abandoned projects that were restored by SPNB have yet to receive CF although
completed years ago.
Awang said due to the delay, the completed houses could not be handed over
to those who had bought such houses.
He said among the completed units were 260 units of low cost houses and
affordable homes in Penang, 214 units in Kelantan, 41 units in Kedah and 435
units in Selangor.
