Cops crippled a drug-trafficking syndicate after nabbing four Myanmar men, including their gang leader, in Tanjung Gemok, near Rompin, yesterday.

A Pahang CID team and a team from the Kuantan district Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID), arrested three men in a raid on a house in Kampung Kurnia, Tanjung Gemok, at 1pm.

Pahang NCID chief Supt Amran Ramli said 736 grams of heroin worth RM36,800 was found in a black plastic bag in the living room of the house during the raid.

"Also seized was a Honda Wave motorcycle valued at RM3,000," he said today.

Amran said a call was received from another Myanmar man, believed to be the gang leader, when police were investigating the three suspects.

Amran said the man offered RM20,000 as inducement for police to release his three accomplices.

Based on information gleaned during the negotiation, he said an operation was carried out and the gang leader was nabbed at a petrol kiosk in Tanjung Gemok at 9pm.

"Police found RM20,000 in cash, a knife and two Nokia cellphones on the man.

"The suspect had rented a house there and masqueraded as a fisherman since the gang started distributing drugs last year," he said, adding that urine tests conducted found two of the suspects positive for syabu.

All the suspects, in their 30s, are being remanded until next Thursday and their case is investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama, October 31, 2014.
