KUANTAN, May 7 (Bernama) -- A couple was killed while their six-month-old

baby was injured after the car they were travelling in skidded before crashing

into the metal road divider at Kilometer 205.31 of the East Coast Highway near

Gambang, here yesterday afternoon.

The victims, Ahmad Hakimi Ahmad Rabudzi, 31, and his wife, Siti Rohani Abd

Halim, 26, died on the spot from serious injuries while their son, Ahmad Uzair

who was thrown out of the car, only suffered light injuries.

According to the Pahang Public Order and Traffic Department chief, Supt

Mohamed Fauzi Abdul Rahim, in the 6.30pm accident, the couple were on their way

from Kerteh, Terengganu to Kuala Lumpur.

He said at the scene of the accident, the car driven by Ahmad Hakimi skidded

and hit the metal divider before going into the opposite side of the road.

"At that time, a car coming from Kuala Lumpur towards Kuantan tried to avoid

the victim''s car and hit the divider but the car driver was unhurt," he told

reporters here today.

Mohamed Fauzi said the toddler was now being treated at the Tengku Ampuan

Afzan Hospital (HTAA) Kuantan.
