NEED TO CREATE ICT LEARNING METHOD FOR ALL LEVELS OF SOCIETY - RAIS

SINGAPORE, June 19 (Bernama) -- A learning method on the information

communication technology (ICT) system suitable for all ages and levels of

society needs to be created to complement the government''s efforts in

encouraging use of ICT among the public in Malaysia.

Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said

the first phase involving the distribution of devices such as netbooks and

providing infrastructure had been successfully implemented in stages nationwide.

"In this regard, the time has come for the relevant parties like the Malaysian

Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to draw up a learning module for

ICT which can be easily understood and fully benefit the people, especially

those in the rural areas.

"So, the important thing now is to get the rural folk to change their attitude

and to learn even in old age about computers, how to use the Internet and

broadband, and how to benefit from these facilities."

Rais said this to reporters after attending the ICT Ministerial Meeting and

visiting the CommunicAsia 2012 pavilions at the Marina Bay Sands Exhibition

Centre with a Malaysian delegation, here, today.
