KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- The Congress of Unions of Employees in
the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) will continue requesting the government
to consider granting two months bonus to all civil servants this year.
Cuepacs president Datuk Omar Osman said the Union hoped the government would
payout a one month bonus before Hari Raya and the other after the festival was
over.
He said Cuepacs had officially written to the government and hoped for the
good news from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak soon.
"Civil servants have not received bonus since 2008, so we hope the
government will consider our request and make the payment before and after Hari
Raya to ease the burden of the people," he told reporters here today.
Omar said Cuepacs had made similar requests many times before since Cuepacs
has been receiving numerous calls from civil servants.

He added that bonus payment should be across the board and not limited till
Grade 54.
Meanwhile, Omar said Cuepacs which rejected the Pensions Provident Scheme
(SPB) proposed by the Public Services Department (PSD) was still willing discuss
the matter.
"Though the proposal was unanimously rejected by Cuepacs, we are still
willing to discuss the matter if there was room for improvement. Through a
meeting, we hope to put forward our views and recommendations and tell the
government why Cuepacs had rejected the proposal," he said.
