DAP Youth: Malacca MCA man a ‘low-class politician’

By Ida Lim

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 — The DAP Socialist Youth today blasted the Malacca MCA chief for using the state assembly to accuse Lim Guan Eng of an extramarital affair, calling it an act of “political desperation” and a misuse of legal immunity.

On Monday, Malacca MCA chief and assemblyman for Duyong Datuk Gan Tian Loo was allowed by state Speaker Datuk Othman Muhamad to challenge fellow representative Betty Chew to answer allegations that her husband, Lim, had an affair and that she had assaulted the former aide over the matter.

“We challenge him (Gan), if he has proof, to repeat the allegations outside the Dewan. So Lim Guan Eng and Betty can take legal action and let this matter be proved in court,” said Anthony Loke, the movement’s chief.

“Failing to do so reaffirms that he’s a liar and a low-class politician to hide behind legal immunity,” Loke said, referring to the protection from lawsuits granted to lawmakers when making statements in the state assembly.

“There’s no video about Lim Guan Eng. So don’t compare Lim Guan Eng to yourself,” Loke also told MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, adding that the MCA president had been “caught” in the act.
