Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur mula memasang penghalang di sekeliling Dataran Merdeka sekitar jam 2.30 pagi tadi - lebih tiga jam sebelum arahan awal dikuatkuasakan.

Malam tadi Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) mengumumkan akan menutup selama 48 jam Dataran Merdeka - yang mahu digunakan oleh BERSIH untuk mengadakan perhimpunan bantah duduk Sabtu ini - berkuatkuasa jam 6 pagi ini hingga 6 pagi Ahad.

Menurut Presiden Gerakan Mahasiswa Pantai Timur Syahmi Hazim Mohd Ithnin berkata pihak DBKL mengeluarkan arahan supaya mahasiswa dan orang ramai bersurai jam 4 pagi.

Menurut seorang lagi saksi, selepas mahasiswa beredar ke seberang jalan di bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad DBKL juga turut memasang pagar besi - sebagai halangan kedua - untuk menghalang orang ramai berkumpul di Dataran.

Syahmi berkata sewaktu barricade mula dipasang, mahasiswa juga sempat mengadakan speaker corner di dataran tersebut. Pada ketika itu sekitar 30 mahasiswa dan orang awam berada di dataran tersebut.

Sebelum itu, ratusan mahasiswa dan orang awam berhimpun di Dataran Merdeka sejak malam tadi. Mereka mula beredar apabila hujan mula turun di kira-kira jam 2 pagi.

Menurut Syahmi  lagi, sewaktu DBKL memasang barricade, tiada pertembungan dengan pihak berkuasa DBKL, malah mereka mengikut arahan yang diberikan.

Dan sebahagian daripada mereka duduk dan ada yang tidur di seberang jalan, di tepi bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad.

Traffik di hadapan bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad masih dibuka kepada orang ramai.
