TAWAU, May 12 (Bernama) -- The decomposing naked body of a man was found in

one of nine water tanks at the Sri Titingan people''s housing project (PPR) near

here today.

PPR management personnel found the body about 8.30am, following complaints

from residents of a stench, akin to a detergent, emanating from the water

supply.

Tawau police chief ACP Ibrahim Chin said initial police investigations had

not indicated foul play into the death of the unidentified victim.

Mother of five Hasnah Bacho, 34, said there was a stench of detergent in the

water supply to her home before she complained to the PPR management to

investigate its cause.

Another resident, Nahar Ahmad, 62, said he suspected something amiss over

the stench in the water supply over the past three days.

Each tank at the PPR is six metre-high and placed on an 18-metre tall

structure.

Sabah Assistant Finance Minister and Apas State Assemblyman Datuk Tawfiq Abu

Bakar Titingan said there was a need for better security involving water tanks.
