Chelsea interim boss Roberto Di Matteo has refused to be drawn on his future at the club, after lifting the Champions League trophy against Bayern Munich on Saturday evening.
Chelsea’s final game of the season came right down to the wire with Didier Drogba netting the winning penalty in the shoot-out, after the teams could not be separated in 120 minutes of open play.
Di Matteo has been in charge of the Blues since Andre Villas-Boas was sacked in early March, and has pushed on, turning the side’s fortunes around to claim the FA Cup and Champions League- yet his managerial prospects at Stamford Bridge remain uncertain.
The Italian refused to be drawn on his personal future at the club, telling the BBC: “"My future is not important. Whatever the club decides I will respect. You know that what we discuss with the boss [Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich] we don't discuss publicly.
"It is irrelevant because, as I have said in the last three months, I have been happy with the arrangement and whatever the future holds I will accept."
Di Matteo also refused to reveal what Russian billionaire owner Abramovich told him on the way up to the trophy presentation.
He added: “I don't discuss these things but he looked very happy and all the supporters, players and staff are happy because this is an historic night for our club.
"Football is crazy and unpredictable and I don't think anybody could have predicted what has happened in the last three months. I feel great and I'm pleased for everyone connected with the club.
"I am so pleased for our players because they have worked so hard over many, many years to achieve this objective and of course had the experience of losing on penalties to Manchester United in the final in Moscow in 2008."
