PETALING JAYA (July 18): Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has posed a question to Malaysians: what have I done during my tenure as prime minister that is proof of me being a dictator?
In his latest blog post simply titled "Diktator" (Dictator), Dr Mahathir acknowledged that he was bestowed many titles during his 22 years of serving the country and the title of "dictator" was one created by his political foes.
"Titles, like labels for branded goods, are difficult to chip away," he wrote today on chedet.cc. "Whether it has basis or not, titles are for life and are therefore very useful in politics, especially titles that run down your enemies."
"No matter what you do, those who have given you those titles will never stop using them on you."
