GEORGE TOWN, June 12 (Bernama) -- The Electronic Fire Extinguisher
Inspection System (e-FEIS) will be implemented nationwide from January next year
to ensure proper maintenance of fire extinguishers, Fire and Rescue
Director-General Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said today.
He said the system would make easier for contractors to deal with the
department, including to make appointments for checks on fire extinguishers, as
it could be done online.
"Through e-FEIS, the contractors can choose the time, date and the location
of the inspection centre," he told reporters after opening a seminar on
maintenance of fire-fighting equipment here today.
Wan Mohd Nor said implementation of e-FEIS would also make it easier and
faster for the department to prepare its reports.
Hence, this would ensure smooth maintenance of fire-extinguishers, as well
as improve the quality of the department''s service, he added.
