PETALING JAYA, May 30 (Bernama) -- An Egyptian man was jailed two months by

the Magistrate''s Court here today after he pleaded guilty to stealing 73

household items worth RM640.41 from a shopping mall at Sunway Pyramid, Bandar

Sunway here last month.

Ahmed Mohammad, 36, who works as a cook at a hotel here, received an

additional two months jail after he also pleaded guilty to entering the country

illegally.

However, Magistrate Ahmad Solihin ordered the sentences to run concurrently

from the date of his arrest on April 9.

The accused had stolen the items at the Jusco Hypermarket , Sunway Pyramid

at 3.40 pm on April 9.

He was liable to be jailed up to 10 years and fined for the first charge and

jailed up to five years and fined RM10,000 or both, and could also be whipped,

for the second.

Deputy public prosecutor Choong Kak Sen appeared for the prosecution while

the accused was unrepresented.
