KAJANG, May 20 (Bernama) -- An enforcement team from the Domestic Trade,
Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry conducted a raid at a hotel here today to
put to a stop promotion of a suspected pryamid scheme by a direct selling
company.
The ministry''s enforcement director Mohd Roslan Mahayudin said the raid was
conducted following complaints from the public that the company was running a
pyramid scheme.
"We believe the company is abusing its direct selling licence by focusing
more on recruitment of members that selling products," he told reporters here.
He said in the 5pm raid, the enforcement team also recorded statements from
200 people present to listen to the company''s promotion of its money-making
scheme.
The team also recorded statements from the organisers besides seizing a
laptop.
