Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney failed to pass on his magic touch to horse Pippy on Wednesday afternoon, as the colt made a disappointing race debut.
The three-year-old, one of a trio of horses owned by the Englishman, failed to place during a meet at a wet Chester Racecourse.
Rooney famously scored a Champions League hat-trick in his first run out for the Red Devils, though it seems his ability has not yet rubbed off onto his horses.
His team-mate, horse enthusiast and, if we're being cruel, former footballer Michael Owen was also present to help cheer Pippy on to no avail.
And Rooney later revealed to The Telegraph the bizarre story behind the horses' name, saying: "The name was just what my wife got called when she was younger." Fascinating stuff.
