F&N continues ascent

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 3): Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&N) shares rose on Friday and the stock was the top gainer at 9.15am, jumping 32 sen to RM20.32 following reports that Coca-Cola and Kirin may bid for the F&N Group’s F&B assets.

A day earlier, the stock rose to its record high after shares of Fraser and Neave  Ltd(F&N) and Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) were suspended on the Singapore Stock Exchange from trading from 8.30am there.

Reuters had reported that the trade halt was due to F&N is pressing for a better offer for its stake in APB than the $4.1 billion offered by its partner Heineken NV, citing sources.

It said the Dutch brewer and F&N are embroiled in a tussle over APB, the producer of Tiger Beer.
