KANGAR, July 13 (Bernama) -- Felda settlers throughout the country have been

advised not to join the Orange Assembly to Save Felda planned to be held at the

Federal Territory Mosque tomorrow.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister''s Department, Datuk Ahmad Maslan said

the assembly organised by the Save Felda Movement (GSF) would be in vain as

settlers had been enjoying various benefits of Felda.

Speaking to reporters after attending a seminar on "Understanding Wasatiyyah

and 1Malaysia Concept" organised by the Perlis National Civics Bureau (BTN) with

the cooperation of the Perlis state government here today, he said he believed

the organising of the assembly is politically motivated.

The assembly is purportedly aimed at protesting the listing of Felda Global

Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGVH) in Bursa Malaysia with the excuse that it is to the

detriment of Felda settlers.

The participants of the assembly plan to hold a procession to the Istana

Negara through Jalan Duta to hand over a memorandum to the Yang Dipertuan Agong.

However, recently police had informed the organisers that the Federal

Territory Mosque is a religious site and can not be used for the purpose while

Istana Negara is a protected area.
