KOTA KINABALU, March 10 (Bernama) -- A furniture factory in Kolombong near
here went up in smokes at dawn today.
When contacted, Sabah Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer
Mohd Affendy Ramin said the fire was believed to have occurred at about 5.45am,
but the distress call came at 6.04am.
"Fire and rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene within
minutes and managed to control the fire within an hour,” he said.
According to Mohd Affendy, the fire had spread to a nearby workers'' quarters
as well as a vehicle workshop and a tyre factory.
No casualty was reported. A 40-year-old worker, who lived at the workers''
quarters, suffered minor burns on his left arm while helping others to safety.
