GEORGE TOWN, Dec 30 (Bernama) - The woman arrested with 3.9kg syabu at
Penang International Airport (PIA) here on Wednesday was a drug mule for an
international drug trafficking syndicate run by foreign students.
Penang police chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob said two Nigerian students behind the
drug trafficking syndicate was arrested at KL Sentral the same day the woman was
"After the woman''s arrest at PIA at 10.40am, a police team managed to track
down the two foreign students aged 26 and 37 years," he told a press conference
Police arrested the two students at KL Sentral and believed that they were
waiting for the 42-year-old woman to arrive from Penang.
"The single mother was supposed to take an express bus from Penang to KL
Sentral with the drugs to avoid detection by authorities.

"The syndicate used a new tactic by skipping KL International Airport (KLIA)
due to strict enforcement over there."
Ayub said the tactic failed as Penang police managed to trace the spa
employee in Kuala Lumpur who was carrying the drugs in a baggage.
Investigation also found that Penang woman was a lover to one of the
students arrested and was highly paid to carry the drugs.
Besides money, the woman was also given a free travel package to carry drugs
"On Dec 21, the woman took a flight from KLIA to Mumbai, India, and to Addis
Ababa (Ethiopia) and Bamako (Mali), a country in West Africa to take the drugs."
Ayub said police seized RM29,634 from the suspects who were remanded until
Jan 4 to aid investigation under Section 39B of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
