SHAH ALAM, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- A former operations manager of the Banting
branch Bank Islam Berhad was sentenced to two years'' jail, whipped twice and
fined RM20,000, in default a year''s jail, by the Sessions Court here today after
he pleaded guilty to 95 counts of criminal breach of trust, involving RM83,500.
Judge Mohd Fadhir Harun sentenced Ramdan Mat Razak to two years jail for
each count, to be served concurrently from today.
Ramdan, 38, was charged with committing the offence by making 95
transactions, involving RM83,500, belonging to six Banting branch Bank Islam
Berhad account holders.
The offence was committed at the bank premises at No: 16 & 18, Jalan
Cempaka, Banting, between Jan 28, 2006 and March 20, 2008.
He was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code which carried an
imprisonment of up to 20 years with whipping and liable to fine, if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor Iswa Tonie prosecuted, while Ramdan was represented
by lawyer Pritam Singh.
