FORMER CIVIL ADMIN ASST PLEADS GUILTY TO CBT

JOHOR BAHARU, July 13 (Bernama) -- A former civil finance administrative

assistant was sentenced to six years imprisonment by the Sessions Court here

today, for each of the 20 counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) amounting to

RM11,615 he committed two years ago.

Judge Zamri Bakar ordered Abdul Samat Ahamad, 51, to serve the sentences

concurrently from the date of his arrest yesterday, after he pleaded guilty to

the charges.

Abdul Samat was charged under the Penal Code for CBT involving government

revenue for the sum of RM11,615 at the Jalan Abdul Samad Dental Clinic here,

between Jan 28 and March 25, 2010.

The judge however spared him from being caned, due to his age.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Dzul Iswari Mohd Jaafar had earlier applied for a

sentence befitting the offence as it involved government revenue and a matter of

public interest.

Abdul Samat was unrepresented.
