SEPANG, May 18 (Bernama) -- Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid
Ibrahim said any decision to resolve the water issue in the state will only be
announced after a forum involving experts in the field, next month.
All the experts invited would be sharing their experiences and suggesting
appropriate actions to be taken, he told reporters after launching a "Program
Dialog Bersama Rakyat " at Dewan Orang Ramai Sepang, here today.
Asked on his statement recently that he would take Energy, Green Technology
and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui to court if the minister
refused to exercise his powers to break the deadlock in the water restruturing
plan negotiations, Abdul Khalid claimed that they were ready to continue with
the plan.
Abdul Khalid recently urged Chin to use his ministerial power under the
Water Services Industry Act 2006 to ensure the water concessionaires would agree
to the state government''s water industry restructuring plan.
However, Chin replied that he had no power to ask the water concessionaires
in Selangor to agree to the water industry restructuring plan proposed by the
state government.
Chin also said that it was up to Abdul Khalid to bring him to court
regarding the issue.
The minister said that if the state government wanted to take over water
supply from the concessionaires, it should be through negotiations under
"willing buyer" and "willing seller" approach.
